BRAZILIAN NEWSPAPERS AND THEIR INTERNET STRATEGY

Abstract

This study aims to identify how the Brazilian daily newspapers operate in the online media, identifying and classifying their main characteristics. Based on the information economy concepts, attributes such as gratuity, characterization and aggregation were analyzed resulting in a taxonomy used to analyze those communication vehicles. A possible relationship between the newspaper’s online level of adaptation and its contents category was identified and it was also detected a great importance of the print medium to the newspaper’s financial results.
