Abstract

In the phenomenon of urbanization, urban mobility is one of the main areas affected. Brazil presents a scenario of accelerated urbanization, intensifying the reduction of mobility. Little is known about the reflection of this growth for the different genders, but it is known that technology can be an ally for the reduction of gender differences in urban mobility services. In this scenario, the article seeks to investigate the existence of difference of gender perspectives in relation to the importance of technology in urban mobility services. The analysis is developed with a quantitative approach with secondary data. With Brazil as the background of this article, data collected from 14 cities in the period 2014/15 were used. Results suggest the existence of different gender perspectives with respect to the importance of technology in some urban mobility services, specifically in intelligent public transportation, fleet management, electric vehicles and bicycles.
